Michael J. Flanagan, of Ypsilanti, passed away August 30, 2025 at the age of 75. He was born April 1, 1950 in New York, New York, to William and Theresa Flanagan. Beloved brother of Kevin (Mary) Flanagan, Mary (Dennis) DeLeeuw, Martin (Janet) Flanagan, Theresa Flanagan, Cathy (George) Giles, Joanne Palmer, Patrick (Joanne Bournival) Flanagan, and William Flanagan Jr. Dear brother-in-law of Lynn Flanagan, Michael is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Michael will be deeply missed by his friends and family. He was predeceased by his parents, and his brothers, Timothy Flanagan and Gary Flanagan.

Michael was a graduate of the University of Michigan obtaining his BA in Political Science. He then obtained his JD degree from the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law. He was a skilled attorney focused on Automotive Law whose advice and expertise were sought across a range of automotive issues. He loved all sports and was a big fan of the San Francisco 49ers and San Francisco Giants but his passion was University of Michigan football. His interests included politics, history, and reading. He authored a novel titled The Arboretum, a work of fiction, loosely based on his time working in a psychiatric ward during his college years. He will be remembered for his kindness, sense of humor, and wisdom.
