Flanner Buchanan - Washington Park EastMichael “Mickey” George Friedman passed away on December 23, 2025. Mickey was born on February 4, 1959 to Robert and Shirley Friedman in Wild Rose, Wisconsin. Mick grew up in many places such as Wild Rose, Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Michigan, Ft. Eustis, Virginia, Ft. Gordon, Georgia, Camp Zama, Japan, Ft. Campbell, Kentucky, Indianapolis, Indiana and Las Vegas, Nevada. He was part of a military family.
Mick graduated from Warren Central High School in 1977 and went on to earn an Associate Degree from Indiana University in Indianapolis. His degree was a liberal arts degree and he completed a business certification. Mick was a substitute teacher in both Indiana and in Nevada. His main work was driving for companies, such as Frito Lay, Domino’s, Papa Johns, Uber and Lyft. Mickey moved to Las Vegas in 2005 and lived there for almost 20 years. He retired and moved back to Indianapolis in May of 2025.
Growing up, Mick was involved in many youth activities such as football, baseball, basketball and bowling. He enjoyed photography and traveling. He helped his dad build a Volkswagen from the frame up, and he had a heart for the family’s Ford Torino. He had a large art collection, and he was a lifelong Dallas Cowboy fan. Mick was an impromptu historian and a great storyteller. He held onto his friendships for a lifetime. Mick accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior on April 22, 1988.
Mick was preceded in death by his father, Sam Friedman, all his grandparents and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Surviving him are his mother, Shirley Friedman, two brothers, Russ (Gail) Friedman, and Kevin (Lori) Friedman, two sisters, Terri Masuda and Dani (Gary) Oertel, two nieces, one nephew, five great nieces and nephews and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Mick will be laid to rest in Kadoka, South Dakota. A funeral service will be held on March 2, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Flanner and Buchanan, located at 10722 E. Washington Street in Indianapolis.
