Michael Lynn Gamblin

Michael L. Gamblin (78) of Oak Ridge, TN passed away peacefully on April 29, 2025.
He was born on November 30, 1946, to E.B. Gamblin and Geneva Gamblin Allbritton in Kenedy, Texas. Mike was a hardworking and dedicated father and husband. He took on every hardship or challenge with determination. He secured a baseball and football scholarship to Stephen F. Austin University. He flew Phantom F-4's with the Lancers VMFA-212 as a Marine Corps Captain during the Vietnam War. His squadron received the Meritorious Unit Commendation for heroic deeds and valorous acts during combat. After being stationed at Kaneohe Bay in Honolulu, Hawaii he moved his family to Golden, Co so he could attend Colorado School of Mines where he graduated with a mining engineering degree.
At this time, he was also a Marine reservist air traffic controller. The family then moved back to his home state of Texas to pursue a career in the oil and gas industry. The family eventually settled in Oak Ridge, TN where he established three successful oil and gas companies. Most of all he was a beloved father and husband as well as a good friend.
He loved his wife and even while struggling with dementia he never forgot her.
He was preceded in death by his Father E.B. Gamblin, Mother Geneva Allbrittion, brother Charlie Gamblin, sister Theresa Gamblin.
He is survived by his beloved wife Barbara Gamblin, daughter Julie Hubbard (Dale), son Matt Gamblin (Allison), son Stuart Gamblin (Brinna), grandchildren Olivia, Will, and Ian Hubbard. Maris, Cora, Nolan, Graeme, and Barrett Gamblin. Brother Barry Gamblin.
The family would like to thank the staff of Cleveland Veterans Home for their exceptional care of Mr. Gamblin.
The family will receive friends on Thursday May 8, 2025, from 7:00pm until 8:00pm with a service following at 8:00pm. Graveside services with military honors will take place at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery on Friday May 9th, 2025, at 8:30am. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Tennessee.
