Mr. Gayhart was born October 4, 1959 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He started his lawn business at the age of 14. He would ride a bike and pull the lawnmower behind him. Through the years, his business got bigger and he operated Mike's Lawn Service until he retired in 2015. Mike loved to talk about his skating rink days when he was a teenager. He was a Dale, Jr. and Chase Elliott fan and loved attending NASCAR races with his friend Ron. He had fun cutting up with his friends at Bojangles. He also looked forward to Friday nights at Lazzara's and Saturday mornings at Dunkin' Donuts with his friends. He also enjoyed Saturday night dinners with his sister, brother and sister-in law.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Priscilla Nell Brown Gayhart; father, Chester O. Gayhart; and nephew Craig Gayhart.
He is survived by his sister, Debbie Gayhart of Newport; brother and sister-in-law, Chester and Sheri Gayhart of Jacksonville; and two nephews, Chris Gayhart of Austin, TX and Hunter Gayhart of Charlotte NC.
The family will receive friends at Jones Funeral Home in Jacksonville from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Wednesday, February 28.

Working at Lazarras pizza getting to serve Mike every Friday. He was funny and so loved by his friends. I was fortunate enough to see him at his Bojangles 3 weeks ago. He will definitely be missed.

My deepest sympathies for your family. I knew Mike through my brother, Billy, who lived across the street from Mike for many years. Mike was such a sweet man and my brother adorned him. He did not hesitate to help me years ago when I needed his services for a property that I owned. I was a grateful customer until he retired. I recently saw Mike at my sister-in-laws viewing and it was great to reminisce about old times. Your brother was truly a wonderful person to know.
