Michael Gehron Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Crouse Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. on Sep. 26, 2023.
Michael J.F. Gehron, 69, of New Bern, NC, died in Greenville, NC on July 5, 2023.
Mike was born in Williamsport on December 30, 1953, the son of, Harold H. Gehron and Erla Jeane (Legge) Gehron, his father preceded him in death in 2000 and his mother in 2003.
After college, Mike went to work for Bechtel Corporation in the Power Division, as an electrical designer at the Susquehanna Steam Electric Station in Berwick. He quickly progressed into field engineering, where he earned the respect of both craftsman and his other field engineering colleagues. Mike spent about 9 years at that plant and saw completion of its construction. He spent time at other nuclear plants over the next several years, including; Hope Creek, Limerick, and Palo Verde, where he supported construction as well as refueling outages. Mike also supported several combined cycle gas turbine power plants before settling in at Bechtel's Frederick Maryland office, where he finished his career as a well-respected electrical estimator. Mike worked for more than 40 years for the same company, something not often seen in that business. He was a loyal person.
Mike enjoyed photography, wood working, hiking and driving through the mountains of Pennsylvania, especially when it snowed. He enjoyed cars, owning a Mustang, then a Thunderbird and eventually moving towards trucks in his later years.
Mike was always upbeat, optimistic and friendly, he had a great sense of humor, and was always ready to try something new and fun. He was a loyal friend who would do anything he could to help someone in need.
Mike bought a home in New Bern, NC in 2018, before he could move into his home, hurricane Florence struck and flooded his home. He spent the next couple years rebuilding it and making it his own. His neighbors thought highly of him and will miss him.
Mike is survived by two cousins, Ann Henry Larrabee of Venice Fla. and Sandra Gehron Sam of Cogan Station.
Burial on the family lot in Wildwood Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family
