Mike was born in Chicago, IL, son of the late Richard J. Gerardy and Dorothy D. (DeVore) Gerardy. He passed away after a year-long battle with pancreatic cancer.
Mike is survived by his wife, Debra Smith Gerardy; sons, Steven Gerardy and Donald Gerardy; daughters, Valerie Gerardy and Rebecca Gerardy; siblings, Carol Little (Charles), Richard Gerardy, Lyn Gooden and Christopher Gerardy (Lisa).
He was a graduate of Carson Long Institute and served briefly in the US Marine Corps before embarking on his career in HVAC. His customers appreciated his honesty and transparent approach.
In his spare time, Mike had a passion for barbeque and competed in local and regional competitions. Later he enjoyed building and launching rockets and became known as “Rocketman”. He was a kind, gregarious and generous man who was loved by many.
Mike will be greatly missed by the countless lives he touched. A celebration of his life will be planned shortly.
