William Gerardy Obituary
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Anita (nee Genovese); his children, Daniel (Stacy) Gerardy, Laura (Paul) Campbell, and Carolyn Dvorak; his grandchildren, Kristina Gerardy, Samantha Gerardy, Mikey Gerardy, Megan Eichelberger, Sarah Eichelberger, Tom (Liz) Campbell, Katie Campbell, Maria Campbell, Alex Nottke, Emily Nottke, Nicholas Walsh; his siblings, Jim Gerardy and Kathleen (Tom) Olejnik; his sister-in-law, Carole (Gary) Slaybaugh; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Kathryn Gerardy and siblings, Dick (the late Dorothy) Gerardy, Pat (the late Jerry) Clifford, and Nanette (the late Tom) Glynn.
Bill grew up on the south-side of Chicago. He was a graduate of Chicago Vocational School. He met the love of his life, Anita, through his sister and was married on September 21, 1963 at St. Linus Church, Oak Lawn. He enjoyed a long career with International Harvester and retired in 1994. He loved to be outside and was a master gardener. Bill lived for his family and was always there to lend a hand to anyone. He will be deeply missed, and his memory lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
For those who would like to leave a lasting tribute to Bill's life, memorial donations may be directed to Alzheimer's Association.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 7, 4:00-8:00 PM at the Overman-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, corner of Routes 30 & 59, Plainfield. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 8, 11:00 AM at St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, 15629 S. Route 59, Plainfield. Interment will follow at St. Mary Immaculate Cemetery, Plainfield.

When he nicknamed me "Bones".
When he would chase me around the dining room table and sing, "Kathleen Adele, died and went to Hell". He was a big brother tease!
We shared almost every Christmas Eve together for over 60 years.
It was hard not to be around Bill and laugh.
We were together in many places over the years. One that comes to mind is going to Chicago and having our picture taken in front of the "Bean". Another is vacationing with our families in Michigan.
Bill was always there to help. I learned to love gardens even more because of him.
I remember every house he and Anita lived. There was always food, laughter and fun.
Bill and I were the only left handed children out of 6. He weighed in at birth
10# 2oz and I weighed 10# 3oz.
I learned to be a fun loving person, have a strong faith, be a good spouse and parent and be charitable.
I will miss him so much....
