Obituary published on Legacy.com by Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home on Feb. 5, 2026.
Roger A. "Grandpa Rog" Sheffield, age 83, a resident of Naperville since 1975, formerly of
Morton Grove, IL, passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at Endeavor Health Edward Hospital in Naperville. He was born on December 7, 1942, in
Chicago, IL.
Beloved husband of Trish Sheffield (née Boynton), whom he married on December 5, 1992, loving father of Natalie Hansen of North Aurora, IL and Greg Sheffield of McKinney, TX, loving stepfather of Scott (Betsy) Boyd of Wheaton, IL, Bob Boyd of Naperville and Cindy (Brett Anderson) Crawford of Plainfield, IL, adored grandfather of Blake and Nathan Hansen; Carson, Dylan and Jakob Sheffield; Derek (Christen) Boyd, Asha (Dan) Long and Ty Boyd; Patrick (Samantha) Crawford and Sarah Crawford, cherished great-grandfather of Ella Boyd, Derek Boyd, Jr. and Reign Cruz; Lizzie and Maddie Long, devoted son of the late Ralph and Ruth Sheffield, fond uncle, great-uncle and friend of many.
Roger was a proud graduate of Monmouth College, an alma mater he spoke of often and held close to his heart. As a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, he formed lifelong friendships and loved reminiscing about his college days, sharing stories of that time throughout his life.
Through determination and hard work, Roger put himself through business school, earned his MBA from Loyola University Chicago, and built a successful career as a Certified Public Accountant. He eventually founded his own firm, Sheffield, Haley & Rodgers, in
Naperville, Illinois-an accomplishment he was deeply proud of.
Above all else, Roger was devoted to his family. He was a loving husband to his wife, Trish, a proud father, and a devoted grandfather. He found great joy in watching his children and grandchildren play sports, attending every game and meet he could-or watching online when he couldn't be there in person. He took immense pride in their efforts and accomplishments and was their constant supporter.
One of Roger's greatest joys was traveling the world on cruises with Trish. Cruising brought him immense happiness, and he was often planning the next adventure before the current one had ended.
He was an avid sports fan, especially of the Chicago Bears and Chicago White Sox, women's college basketball, and the Olympics. He also loved music, especially Queen and 1950s rock and roll.
Roger will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend-someone who showed up, stayed connected, and lived life fully. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2026, 4:00-8:00 PM at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St.,
