Herman Stuckmann Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services LTD. on Feb. 18, 2026.
Herman Walter Stuckmann, 97, of Chicago, Illinois passed away peacefully on February 17, 2026 surrounded in love.

Born on October 6, 1928 in Chicago to Herman and Hildegard, he attended college at Loyola University and obtained his accounting degree. He met Kathryn on the shores of Lake Michigan as teenagers. Herman and Kathryn were married in 1952 just before entering the U.S. Army as an officer stationed first in Kentucky and then Georgia. While serving in the army, they started their family. After discharge, Herman and Kathryn and the first two of their children moved back to Chicago where he started his 35 plus year career as an accountant. They continued their family while living in Chicago and then moved to Hoffman Estates, Illinois in 1960 where they completed their family of nine children.

Herman was active on the school board at St. Hubert as well as on various committees and prayer groups at the Church. His passion was boating and went to sailing school in the Virgin Islands to learn how to sail. He brought back his knowledge and bought a 30 foot sail boat where you would find Kathryn and him sailing Lake Michigan from Racine to Chicago. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge of sailing with his family and many friends. Herman had a love of music which he gained from his parents. He played the ukulele, accordion and piano and was often found enjoying his jazz music at high decibels.

Herman is preceded in death by his parents, wife Kathryn and siblings Walter and Barbara Aichholzer.

Herman was lucky enough not only to find love once but twice when he met Dolores through the BNP prayer group and they married in 2012. He became a step-father to Dolores' five children. Herman moved back to Chicago where he lived with Dolores. Herman and Dolores enjoyed traveling and visited Hawaii, the Grand Canyon, Holy Hill and Mother Angelica in Alabama. Herman adored big family gatherings, good food, dancing with Dolores and singing Karaoke.

Herman lived a very long and full life and is survived by his wife Dolores, nine children John (Martha), Nancy Nesci (Donald), James (Kathleen), Thomas, Richard (Joan), David (Therese), Paul, Mary Wieczorek (Kevin), Lisa Cralli (Joseph), step-children Roskin Guiab (Butch), Mark Maranion (Dynae), Marilou Glover, Rodolie Maranion, and Jeronimo Maranion (Marilyn). He is loved and adored by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday, February 27, 9:00 AM-10:00 AM at Holy Archangels Parish at St. Hubert Church. Mass to immediately follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the PAN Foundation. Herman's family is forever grateful to this foundation who funded his expensive monthly medication while being treated for Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia.
