Bernice F. Lea (nee Wrobel), age 94, a longtime resident of Plainfield, IL since 1965, passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at her home surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on December 3, 1931, in Joliet, IL to the late Joseph and Karoline Wrobel (nee Niemiec).

Beloved wife of 63 years to the late David E. Lea, whom she married on March 25, 1950 and who preceded her in death on January 19, 2013, loving mother of David (Lois) Lea, Jeff (Carol) Lea, Linda Lea and the late Dennis Lea (infant son), adored grandmother of Angela (David), Austin (Melissa), Alicia, Amanda (Nate), Jessica, Jacyln, Cole (Paige) and A.J., cherished great-grandmother of fourteen, devoted daughter of the late Joseph and Karoline Wrobel (nee Niemiec) and daughter-in-law of the late Robert and Marie Lea, dear sister of Virginia (late Howard) Fleming, she was preceded in death by her dear siblings Wanda French, Walter, Johnny, Edward and Frank Wrobel, caring sister-in-law of Dorothy (the late John) Stec, fond cousin, aunt, great-aunt, great-great aunt and friend of many.

Bernice was a longtime resident of Plainfield, IL and a longtime active member of St. Mary Immaculate Church since 1965, serving as a temple tender and a religious education teacher. Early in her marriage she was employed by Illinois Bell and sold Sarah Coventry Jewelry. Bernice will be fondly remembered as a devoted mother and homemaker. She was an avid gardener and pet lover, known for spoiling her pet cats and her dear dog Abigail with many treats.

All will gather for the Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated on Thursday, February 12th at 10:30 AM at St Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, 15629 S. Route 59, Plainfield, IL 60544.

A private family interment will be held at a future date at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.
