Michael Joseph Godsill

Michael Joseph Godsill, age 74, of Peoria, passed away at 12:11 PM on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at OSF. St. Francis Medical Center.

Mike was born January 15, 1952 in Peoria, one of three boys to M. Edward, Jr. and Elizabeth Ann (Cotter) Godsill. After graduating high school, Mike went on to earn his associate's degree in engineering. He began his career at Caterpillar retiring after 30 years. On July 13, 1974 he married Marie Bernadette Schleich at St. Mark Catholic Church. Together they raised a family and cherished 47 years until her passing on December 26, 2021. Mike was an avid train and model building enthusiast who also enjoyed wood working. His most treasured memories were spending time with Marie and his family fishing at the Cabin in Walnut Grove. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include one daughter Amy (Kevin) Capie of Peoria; three grandchildren: Adam Godsill, Lauren Godsill, and William "Liam" Capie; and two brothers: Timothy Stephen (Valerie) Godsill of Chillicothe and Patrick William Godsill of Menasha, WI.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marie, and one son Kevin Godsill.

Visitation will be held at St. Philomena Catholic Church on Monday, March 9, 2026 from 10:00 AM until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Father Luke Spannagel will officiate, and burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
