Obituary of Michael Gometro Jr.

Michael R. Gometro Jr., 89, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2026, at Country Meadows of Bethlehem.

Born on March 28, 1936, in Lake Hauto, Michael was the son of the late Sophie and Michael Gometro Sr. He graduated from Nesquehoning High School in 1954. Immediately following graduation, he proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he honorably served his country for eight years, attaining the rank of Airman First Class.

After returning home, Michael built a long and dedicated career as a lineman with the IBEW, where he worked for more than 42 years. He was previously employed by I.E.Schaeffer, Lake Hauto, PA He was also active in his community, serving for many years on the Mansfield Township Planning Board.

Michael was a man who enjoyed life's simple pleasures. He loved camping, snowmobiling, and appreciated time spent at the shooting range. He will be remembered for his independence, dedication, and the pride he took in his work, family, and country.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Gretal Gometro; his sister, Theresa Terray; his parents; and his companion, Linda Radcliff.

Michael is survived by his granddaughter, Jill Trimmer; his niece, Christine Whitaker; his nephews, John Strokoz and James Strokoz; as well as great grandchildren, Keenan Burd, Chance Trimmer and Kassidy Cassidy and great great grandchildren Serenity Trimmer and Paxton Burd., all of whom will cherish his memory.
