Michael served in the USAF for twenty two years. During this time, he served in the Persian Gulf War, Dessert Storm, from 1990-1991. He travelled all around the world while in the Air Force, serving in Korea, Germany, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Japan. He also served state side in Louisiana, Arkansas, North Carolina, and Florida. Yong and their daughters, traveled with him during his career. He retired a Senior Master Sergeant in 2001 coming back to Fort Walton Beach, where he and his wife met. After retirement, along side his wife, he owned a family condo cleaning business in Destin. They owned the business 15 years retiring in 2022.
They attended and served their home parish of St Mary's Catholic Church.
His love of Tae Kwon Do is a passion that continues today through his granddaughter, Vera. Michael earned a second degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and rose in the ranks of Hapkido. He later taught Taekwondo to kids along side his friend. His Tae Kwon Do legacy lives on through his granddaughter and through all of the kids from his classes.
Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Winters. Michael is survived by his loving wife, Yong Mi (Pyo) Green, their daughters, Michelle Baxley (Green), Shannon Green, his grandchildren, Vera Baxley and Charlie Baxley. His father, Donald Green and step-mother, Emily Green, younger brother David Green and sister in law Tracy Toland. His beloved nieces and nephew, Angela Majko, Tommy Majko, and Ashely Rawls. Extended family includes Tom and Suki Majko, and Kory Baxley.
The family extends our deep appreciation to the Vitas Hospice Services in Destin. Michael will never be forgotten and forever loved. His life will continue on through our stories.
A private family service will be held at Barrancas National Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest.
