Robert Green Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Shawn Chapman Funeral Home - Chatsworth on Feb. 18, 2026.
Mr. Robert James Green, 96, of Chatsworth Georgia passed away February 17th 2026 at his home.

Robert Green, affectionately known as Grandpa Robert, was born on September 8th, 1929. He was raised on the Green Family Farm in the bullpen district of Murray County. It was there that he developed a strong love for farming and the outdoors. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend to all. A perfect word to describe Grandpa Robert is "Giver." Family members often joked that the main reason he farmed was so that he could give it all away.

Robert was the living example of Mark 12: 29-31 And Jesus answered him, "The first of all commandments is, Hear O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: and thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these."

He often said he was the most blessed man in the world because he had such wonderful family and friends. Those of us who were fortunate enough to know him were the ones who were TRULY BLESSED.

He is preceded in death by his wife Syble Green; his son, James Green; his parents Tom and Paralee Green;

his brothers, Roy Green and Earl Green; and his sister, Margie Baynes.

He is survived by, his grandson Marshall Green (spouse, Mia Green); great -grandchildren, Macy Green and Marla Green; daughter-in-law and primary care taker, Cindy Green; his sister, Willie Mae Cook; brother-in-laws - Isaac Johns and Jerry Johns (spouse Marty Johns); and special caretakers Georgia Ridley, Allen Green, Jake Green, Amanda Green, Ronnie and Beverley Reece, and Mickey Swims, along with numerous relatives and close friends.

In true Grandpa Robert fashion, the Green family will host a Celebration of Life cookout with fresh vegetables at the Green Family Farm in the Spring of 2026 (date to be determined).
