Michael Chester Haire, 67, of
Owensboro, Kentucky, passed away on January 6, 2026. He was born on October 3, 1958, in
Owensboro, Kentucky. Michael was raised in
Philpot, KY, alongside his four brothers: Darrell, Keith, Steven, and Brent Haire. He was a graduate of Daviess County High School, Class of 1976, where he was a member of the choir and drama club, sparking a lifelong love for music, performance, and creativity.
Michael was truly artistic and multi-talented, with a deep love for entertaining and serving others. A self-taught chef, pianist, singer, and florist, he shared his gifts generously throughout his life. He worked as a chef for the talk show Nashville Now, as a florist for many local floral companies in Owensboro, and was honored to decorate several celebrity homes for Christmas.
Music was an important part of Michael's life and faith. He shared his musical talents with the church for most of his life and most recently played the piano at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church until his health no longer allowed him to do so. He was also generous with his time and talents. playing the piano and creating floral arrangements for the weddings of many family members and friends.
Michael loved to travel and made countless trips with friends to California and Alaska, visiting state parks across Kentucky with his brother Brent, as well as a very special trip to Ireland with his brother Keith and sister-in-law Brenda.
Above all, Michael was devoted to God and his family. He lovingly cared for and looked after his parents, adored each of his brothers, and cherished his sisters-in-law, who were like the sisters he never had. Although Michael did not have children of his own, he loved each of his nieces and nephews as if they were his own, making every one of them feel special and deeply loved.
He was also a devoted father figure to Willow Worth, whom he considered his daughter.
Michael was truly one of a kind. Anyone who had the privilege of knowing him could attest to how incredibly special he was, and his kindness, creativity, and love will be deeply missed.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Opal Haire, and his older brother, Keith Haire.
He is survived by his brothers, Darrell (Theresa) Haire of Owensboro, Steve (Linda) Haire of Philpot, and Brent Haire of Paducah; his sister-in-law, Brenda Haire of Hardin County, KY; and his nieces and nephews: Gaynelle (John) Austin and Casandra (Brian) Coy of Owensboro; Charity Martin of Arizona; Matthew (Amy) Hayden of Atlanta, GA; Keith Haire II of Louisville, KY; Katie (Tommy) Gamble of Hardin County, KY; Melissa Haire and Nathan (Alexandria) Haire of Owensboro; and Brent Haire II of
Paducah, KY. He is also survived by several great-nieces and great-nephews
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation is from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Private family burial at Karns Grove Cemetery.
