John Edward "Jack" Rone

John Edward "Jack" Rone, 79, of Stanley, KY, died on February 28, 2026 at Heartford House, while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. He was born on October 31, 1946 to the late George Huston and Beverly Ann Keller Rone in Owensboro, KY. Jack graduated from Owensboro Catholic High School and Brescia College. He was in the National Guard from 1967 to 1970. Jack married Sharon Jane Boone in November 1966. They had three children, Kristi Lynn, April Leigh, and John Wesley. He retired from the Kentucky State Highway Department as an engineer.

Jack Rone was a devoted husband and loving family man whose humble and supportive spirit touched everyone he met. Never short on words, he offered wisdom freely, loved deeply, and lived each day with grace and mercy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Joseph and Mary Boone; and brothers-in-law, Bob Makowski and Barry Boone.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sharon Rone; children, Kristi Lynn Vanover (Baron), April Leigh Jennings (Brad), and John Wesley Rone (Kari); grandchildren, Cory Millay, Kelsey Boone (Nick), Jake Daugherty (Hannah), Wesley Daugherty, Jaci Rone, Regan Rone, Edy Rone, and Tatum Rone; great-grandchildren, Lila, Bo, Brody, Clara Jane, and Cole; siblings, Mickey Rone (Ilene), Mark Rone (Jill), Beth Royster (Jud), Scott Rone, and

Peggy Makowski; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory with Father Ray Clark officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
