Michael Hayes, Navy Veteran, beloved husband, father, grandpa and dedicated Truck Driver for Port Brokers Inc. in East Rockaway, has peacefully passed away at the age of 82. Born on June 27, 1942, in Brooklyn, NY to loving parents John and Rose Hayes, Michael led a fulfilling life marked by hard work, commitment, and love for his family.

Having served in the Navy as a proud veteran, Michael embodied principles of loyalty and service both in his military career and civilian life. His dedication extended beyond his professional duties; as an active member of Ss. Cyril and Methodius RC Church serving as a Eucharist Minister up until 2019.  Honorary Knight of the Deer Park Knights of Columbus. Beyond all else into his personal roles as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. 

Michael is survived by his beloved wife Ellen Hayes; his children Danielle Hayes-Colon, Michele Bowman, and Michael Hayes; along with six cherished grandchildren, one brother & three sisters. He found immense joy in spending time with his family, creating lasting memories that will be treasured for generations to come.

Throughout his life journey, Michael always exhibited strength of character and unwavering perseverance. His commitment to excellence in all aspects of life was truly admirable and served as an inspiration to those around him.

A visitation to honor Michael's memory will take place on March 14th from 4:00 pm to 8:30pm at Deer Park - Mangano Family Funeral Home in Deer Park, NY. A Mass will be held on March 15th at 11:15 AM at Saints Cyril & Methodius R.C. Church in Deer Park, NY and a burial to follow at Saint Charles Cemetery in East Farmingdale.  

In the hearts of those who knew him best, Michael's legacy will continue to shine brightly as a beacon of love, kindness, and integrity. May he rest in peace knowing that he was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
