Michael Heffron Obituary

Published by Legacy on Feb. 18, 2026.
Michael Alan Heffron (called Mike or "Heff"), passed away on January 20, 2026 at the end of his battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Mike was, quite literally, a tall drink of water at 6'5", and his presence filled any room long before he did. The son of Thomas and Janet Heffron of New Richmond, Wisconsin, Mike carried with him a warmth and ease that reflected his roots and the family who raised him.

His natural charisma and outgoing personality made him an exceptional salesman-and just as adept at convincing friends to join him in whatever shenanigans he had in mind.

One longtime friend wrote:

"Mike was always a fun guy to be with. Something as boring as going out for a burrito would be fun if Mike was along. He had a very relaxed way of looking at things and would often make a comment about something mundane that would make you laugh. Many times people are critical of others to make you laugh, but Mike wasn't that way.

He had charisma and charm with both men and women. When I lived with him, I tried to replicate it but could never come close. The saying 'he could charm the diamonds off a rattlesnake' comes to mind. It's no wonder he was good at sales."

Mike loved sports and lived them fully-playing football, basketball, and baseball in high school, and continuing with football at Mankato State College, as a Maverick defensive back. Competition, camaraderie, and teamwork were central to who he was.

He was deeply loved by his four siblings and is survived by three of them: Karen Heffron (Warren Haviland, deceased), Daniel Heffron, and Kristin Wallerich (Jerry Wallerich). He is also survived by his beloved wife, Loree (née Schostek), his soulmate and devoted caretaker. Mike and Loree married in 2004 in picturesque Sedona, Arizona and went on to make their home in Scottsdale, where they enjoyed the beauty Arizona has to offer.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Janet Heffron, and by his brother, David.

Mike is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins who, with Loree, Karen, Dan, Kris and Jerry, will miss his laughter, his charm, and the way he made ordinary moments unforgettable. Cousin Diane put it best, "In my mind's eye I'm seeing him soar high above the trampoline against blue sky and corn fields. Here's to hoping he's soaring again!"

A celebrating of life is planned for March 28, 2026 at the New Richmond Golf Club, 1226 George Norman Dr., New Richmond, WI, from 3:00pm to 6:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to 2026 Walk to End Alzheimer's - Western WI/New Richmond: Tom's Team | Walk to End Alzheimer's, is greatly appreciated.
