Michael "Mike" Higginbotham January 3, 1951 – November 6, 2025 Michigan City, Indiana
Michael "Mike" Higginbotham, age 74, of Michigan City, Indiana, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025, surrounded by family and loved ones. Born on January 3, 1951, in Michigan City, Mike spent his entire life in the community he cherished.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patti Higginbotham, with whom he shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Together, they built a home filled with compassion and purpose - opening their doors and hearts as foster parents for more than 30 years. Over that time, they fostered more than 40 children and adopted eight, creating a legacy of love that will continue for generations.
Mike is survived by his children, Jeff Logan, Cara Logan, Marc Higginbotham, David Higginbotham, Libbi Higginbotham, Anisa Higginbotham, Devin Higginbotham, Micah Higginbotham, Jared Higginbotham, and Jordan Higginbotham; and by his cherished grandchildren, Hannah, Ethan, Tyler, Sam, Lillia, Zen, River, Dakota, Nalani, Kennadi and Naleah. He is also survived by his brothers, Eugene, John, and Ray Higginbotham.
Mike built his career in the fast-food industry, working his way up through hard work and leadership to become a regional manager for McDonald's. He was known for his dedication, strong work ethic, and his ability to bring out the best in others - qualities that earned him respect and admiration from colleagues and employees alike.
A lifelong sports fan, Mike found joy in cheering on his favorite teams, the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Blackhawks, often with a Coca-Cola in hand and a smile on his face. Above all, his greatest love was for his late wife, Patti, and the family they built together.
Mike will be remembered for his kind heart, steady humor, and the countless lives he touched through both his family and his service to others. His legacy of love, generosity, and devotion will continue to shine through everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Expressions of sympathy may be made in Mike's honor directly to the family.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, November 14, 2025 at Geisen-Carlisle Funeral Home, located at 613 Washington St., Michigan City, IN from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with additional visitation at the funeral home on Saturday, November 15, 2025 from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 12:00 PM with Pastor Ruth Popkin, officiating.

Mike was a great brother my oldest. He taught me growing up how to respect others and always do my best. He even taught me baseball skills and sportsman ship. He was mild mannered and kind. Of course he was a big Chicago Blackhawk fan. I remember him getting mad when watching games with him. When they would call an unfair penalty against the Hawks. I know he went to Heaven and Jesus put his arms around Him and said with you I am Well Pleased Welcome to My Fathers Kingdom for all Eternity
