Michael Ray Hoffman (Moshe ben Avroham)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Ray Hoffman, known in the Jewish community as Moshe ben Avroham, who left us on March 24th, 2025, at the age of 72 born May 9th, 1952.
Michael was a man who was deeply loved and respected by all who knew him. His kindness, strong beliefs, and unwavering support for his family, friends, and congregation at the Chabad of New Mexico made a lasting impact on all who encountered him. Michael was a pillar in his community, admired for his generosity, compassion, and profound connection to his faith.
In his younger years, Michael served as a Marine and worked as a truck driver, experiences that shaped his strong and resilient character. Later in life, he found great joy in working with the Albuquerque Isotopes and New Mexico United, balancing his professional life with his deep commitment to his synagogue and the community he cherished.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Harry Hoffman and Maria M. Serrano; his grandfather, Elizar Serrano; his grandmother, Soraida Serrano; his sister, Mercedes Whitney; and his brothers, Daniel Hoffman, James Archuleta, Tony Hoffman, as well as many aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his daughters, Tracy Lee Rodriguez (Hoffman) and Sonia Viarrial; his grandchildren, Danielle McDaniel (De’Aubrey Lee), Latray Johnson, Jasmine Perry (Ayah Lee, Aryah Lynn), Jamie Reliford (Jameson Reliford), James Reliford Jr (James Reliford 3rd), Marisol Viarrial-Carrillo (husband Charles Carrillo, Eliana L, Liliana M, Charlie J), Cysco Trujillo (Monique); his brothers, Delano Whitney and Ezekiel Jackson; his aunt, Joann Serrano Lovato; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Michael's life was a testament to love, faith, and dedication. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 27th, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Fairview Memorial Park, 700 Yale Blvd. SE, Albuquerque, NM 87106.
