Michael Robert Holmes Sr.

Michael "Mike" Robert Holmes Sr., age 68, of Marion, Ohio passed away Sunday,

March 15, 2026, at Grady Memorial Hospital in Delaware.

Michael was born on June 21, 1958, in Columbus, Ohio to Robert Holmes and the late

Nancy (Mara) Holmes.

Mikel graduated from Westerville High School in 1966. Following graduation, Mike

began working as an auto mechanic. Mike was always a family-oriented man, and he

worked very hard for his sons.

Mike supported his children's interests and passions. He coached all his sons in

baseball and basketball, and he was always present for games and tournaments. Mike

also cooked countless delicious meals for his family. Often these meals were finished

being made a few hours later than expected, but were worth waiting for.

In his spare time, Mike loved to be out on the water, fishing. Mike also enjoyed listening

to classic rock and making food in the smoker that he built. Mike was also an avid Ohio

State Buckeyes fan, rarely missing a game over the years.

Mike was a kind and humorous man, who would give the shirt off his back to help

someone in need. Most of all, he was an amazing dad and grandfather who put thought

and love into his relationships with his family. He will be forever missed.

Michael is preceded in death by his mother Nancy (Mara) Holmes.

Michael "Mike" Robert Holmes Sr. is survived by his three sons Kyle Holmes (Angie),

Seth Holmes, and Michael Robert Holmes II (Nicki Rockentine); sisters Karen Stanich

(Chris), Barb Holmes, Patti Cavinee, and Shelli Holmes; grandchildren Charlie and

Henry; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A celebration of life will be held at the Fraternal Order of Eagles (235 N Columbus St,

Sunbury, OH 43074) on Saturday, March 28, 2026, from 12 to 4 pm. In lieu of flowers,

the family asks that donations be made to The Ronald McDonald House Charities in his

memory.
