"Well done, good and faithful servant." – Matthew 25:23
Michael Angelo Howard, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, pastor, and friend, was born on February 22, 1962, in Mobile, Alabama. He was called home to be with the Lord on May 28, 2025, at 5:53 a.m., at his home in Daphne, Alabama. He was surrounded by his devoted wife, daughters, and loving mother-in-law, as he transitioned peacefully into the arms of the Savior he so faithfully served.
Michael was a man truly chosen for a divine purpose. As John 11:25-26 declares:
"Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.'"
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his parents, Lottie Mae Howard and Allen James Howard Sr., and his brother, Ceaser Howard.
He leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and service that will be forever cherished by those who knew him. He is survived by his selflessly loving and devoted wife, Jacqueline Howard; and their four daughters, Takeima Howard, Jasmine (Joseph) Walker, Christian (Jadarius) Davis-Williams, and Michaela (Thomas) Kidd. He was a proud grandfather to two precious grandchildren, Caiden Michael Howard-Walker and Kynsleigh Elaina Nord. He is also lovingly remembered by his mother-in-law, Cora Ambrose; and his siblings, Rose Marie Woods, Robert (Sharon) Franklin, Allen (Fuyumi) Howard Jr., Brenda Foy, and Mavis (Roderick) Howard Eaton.
Michael's extended family includes cherished in-laws, Leteria (Robert) Page, Thomie Brown, Barbara (Maurice) Dortch, and Richard (Janet) Brown; nieces, Juanita Miskel, Tuajuanna Coleman, Lyteria (Darryl) Shepherd; nephews: Malcom Franklin, Jimmy Johnson, Aaron Johnson, Lamar (Chiquitta) Howard, and Adam Woods; as well as countless cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.
For 31 years, Pastor Michael Howard faithfully led TrueLight Missionary Baptist Church in Prichard, Alabama. Known affectionately as "The Builder," he poured his heart into every message, every soul, every life he touched. Under his leadership, the church thrived not only in faith, but in its mission to serve the community. Through countless hours of teaching, preaching, and ministry, he exemplified 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14:
"Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him."
Outside of the pulpit, Pastor Howard served as a radio personality for 900 AM/WGOK, where his voice brought encouragement and the Word of God to many. He was a Commissioner for the Prichard Housing Authority, and founder of Howard's House LLC, where his heart for outreach and care was evident.
He was a man of compassion, a giver in every sense of the word. He never met a stranger and had a deep love for history, often sharing its truths through the lens of faith. But among all his accomplishments, Pastor Howard would say his greatest joy was leading souls to Christ. He did so with honor, integrity, and an unwavering belief in the power of the Gospel.
Michael was also blessed with the love and dedication of a special group: Rebecca Brown, who served faithfully as President of the Pastor's Aide Committee for his entire tenure at TrueLight; the Pastor's Aide Board, and Michael's Angels, who walked beside him and his family with unwavering devotion.
He shared a treasured brotherhood with his dear friend, Pastor Clayton Davis Jr. and his family, whose love and support remained steadfast through the years. Their friendship was rooted in faith, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to ministry, and their bond was a true reflection of God's love.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Southern Care Hospice, their compassionate staff, the sitters who cared for him, and Hughes Funeral Home and Crematory for the dignity and support provided during this time.
A private visitation was held on May 29th at Hughes Funeral Home and Crematory. While this earthly goodbye is heavy with sorrow, we rejoice in the promise that we will see him again.
His life was a testimony to God's grace, and his legacy will continue to echo through the lives of those he touched. We mourn not as those without hope, for we know that he is now rejoicing in Heaven, reunited with loved ones, and resting in the eternal presence of his Lord.
"To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord." – 2 Corinthians 5:8

To The Howard Family, I am so saddened on the passing of my childhood friend Michael a.k.a. Mike. He was also a true blessing to me and my family. I don´t care whenever I called Mike came to check on me and to Minister to me. He always had that affection smile to greet me with. I can remember a time visiting Truelight and I would see him later and tell him that I was there and he told me exactly where I was sitting in his words ( I saw you) and then a big hug. Rest from your labor my friend you will be truly missed, and Thank you for always being there for our Family.

To his family, I extend my deepest, most heartfelt condolences on the passing of my childhood friend, Mike. Even after he became a shepherd in the vineyard, he was affectionately called Mike by his friends. I firmly believe that Mike was chosen by God after witnessing him eulogize his mother. The Lincoln Village will always cherish the memory of the humble and kindhearted person he was. He loved and cared for my mother as if she were his own, and for that, I am truly grateful. I am also thankful for the beautiful memories I have of him.
