Michael Francis Hurley

Michael Francis Hurley, age 68, of Cedar Grove, NJ, passed away on Friday, October 31, 2025, at his home. He was born on June 4, 1957, in Brooklyn, New York, son of the late John Patrick and Geraldine Agnes Hurley. He lived a life of integrity, strength, and commitment to his family.
Michael graduated from St. Joseph High School in Metuchen NJ as Valedictorian in 1975. He graduated Magna Cuma Laude from University of Virginia in 1979. He continued to graduate from Fordham Law School in 1986. He became an Intellectual Properties Litigator and Partner in New York City working 35 years and retiring in 2021.
Michael is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Eileen Henry Hurley, his two sons, John Patrick Hurley and Colin Michael Hurley. His family meant the world to him.
Michael is also survived by his mother, Geraldine Agnes Hurley, his 4 brothers, Patrick, John, James and Gregory, sister Kathleen, and number of Godchildren, nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was an avid sports fan rooting for the Yankees, Giants, Rangers and Knicks. He enjoyed watching the games with his brothers and friends. His other interests included nature watching, body surfing, and train spotting. He also was a strong supporter of the World Wildlife Fund.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, November 7, 2025 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Shook's Cedar Grove Funeral Home, 486 Pompton Avenue, Cedar Grove, N.J. 07009. A Funeral Mass will follow at St. Catherine of Siena RC Church, 339 Pompton Avenue, Cedar Grove, N.J. 07009 at 10:00 a.m. Inurnment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, N.J.
