Michael J. Hurley

Michael J. Hurley, age 62, passed away Saturday, January 10, 2026 after a long and courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by loved ones. Michael's strength and love for life was truly admirable.

Michael was an avid reader with a passion for history and politics. He loved music. He often played piano and wrote both music and poetry. He had a great appreciation for the simple things in life, especially humor.

Michael was a proud 1982 graduate of St. Ignatius High School and attended Kent State University as an English major. He was also blessed with many friends at Cebars Euclid Tavern where he was loved immensely.

Michael will be missed by a large community of friends and family.

Dear brother of: Timothy (Ann), Brian (Monica), Mary, Terese, Patricia Lyons (James), Maureen Antalovich (John), Daniel (Kathleen), Robert (Ellen) and the late Kevin and Terrence; cherished uncle of: Connor (Laurie), Shaelin Pilarczyk (Nathan), James Lyons (Shannon), Thomas Lyons (Erin), Annie Ayers (Drew), Mary Grace Pratt (Colin), Ryan, Megan Stipkovich (Tom), Kevin (Cara), Michael (Kate), Thomas (Emily), Katie Wales (Craig), Dan (Crystal), and John (Arianna).

Beloved son of the late Edward and Mary Terese Hurley (nee Garry); dearest cousin and loyal friend to many.

Special thanks to Dr. Bassam Estfan and VNA Hospice Nurses and the many friends and neighbors who cared deeply for Michael.

Funeral Mass Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Church. Interment private. The family will receive friends AT THE CHURCH WEDNESDAY FROM 9:00 A.M. UNTIL TIME OF MASS.
