Michael Douglas Johnson, age 69, passed away on January 7, 2026. He was born on September 19, 1956, and was a devoted father, grandfather, and partner whose life was centered around hard work, family, and the things he loved most.
Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Beverly Johnson; father, William Johnson; sister, Theresa Willerson; and former wife, Debra Welch.
He is survived by his daughter, Beth (Robert) Bilbrey; stepdaughter, Beth Schleif Oliver; stepson, Jason Schleif; brother, Clifford "Buzz" Johnson; grandchildren, Hillary Bilbrey, Carli Oliver, Lilly Oliver, Hannah Schleif, Hunter Bilbrey, and Hunter Oliver; granddaughter-in-law, Danielle Oliver; great-granddaughter, Leilani Oliver; and his significant other, Cheryl Sneed. He also leaves behind extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.
Michael had a deep love for motorcycles and working on cars, and he enjoyed being outdoors whenever possible. He cherished time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, who brought him great joy. A skilled tradesman, Michael took immense pride in his work in sheetrock and carpentry, as well as his talent for woodworking, always valuing craftsmanship and doing a job right.
A funeral service will be held at Companion Funeral Home - Cleveland Chapel on Tuesday, February 3, 2026. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., with the service beginning at 6:00 p.m. The service will be officiated by Pastor Mike Walker.
Michael will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love of family, and the legacy of skill and care he leaves behind.
