A Memorial Service for Mike Jones will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska, with Pastor Wes Holen officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Oxford Cemetery. Michael Neil "Mike" Jones, 76 years of age, of
Oxford, Nebraska, died on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at his home in Oxford. Mike was born in Oxford, the eldest of six, children born to Ormond N. "Jinx" and Charlotte (Pearson) Jones. He received his primary education from Oxford Public Schools and then attended and graduated from Oxford High School with the class of 1967. Mike pursued higher education from McCook Community College and attained a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. On December 21, 1968, Mike was united in marriage to the love of his life, Ramona Kay "Mona" Knipschild at St. John's Lutheran Church in Oxford. The couple made their home in Kearney, Nebraska, and McCook, Nebraska, before settling and making their home in Oxford, where they were blessed with one daughter, Michelle (Shelly). Mike worked for Lueking Implement for many years. He then owned and operated Oxford Redi-Mix until his retirement in 2015. He enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters, cheering on Cornhusker Football, golfing, fishing, crossword puzzles and watching / playing Jeopardy. Mike was a creature of habit and enjoyed an afternoon cruise, daily. Mike was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Harold L. and Dorothy E. (Craven) Knipschild. He leaves to celebrate his life: his daughter, Michelle "Shelly" Goodon of Hastings, Nebraska; two granddaughters: Breanna Goodon of Kearney, Nebraska; and Rachel Goodon of Hastings; step-mother, Sharon F. (Ludeke) Jones of Oxford; his siblings: Steve Jones and wife, Kathy of Alma, Nebraska; Debora M. Einspahr and husband, Keith of Wahoo, Nebraska; Gordon Jones of Oxford; Rhonda Nielson and spouse, Deane of Kearney; and Jeffrey Jones and wife, Toby of Omaha; brother-in-law, Henry Knipschild and his wife, Yvonne of Warner Robins, Georgia; one sister-in-law, Patty Schelling of Kearney, Nebraska; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members. There will not be a visitation, viewing, or memorial book signing the evening prior to the service. Cremation was chosen. A memorial has been established in Mike's honor and kindly suggested to the family for future designation.
