A native of Lebanon, Tennessee, son of the late William Gordon and Sara Lewis Jones, he was a United States Army Veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Lona Burnett Singleton Jones of the home; a daughter, Amanda Jones Miner (Christopher) of Mauldin, South Carolina; two stepdaughters, Kimberly Amburgey and Tammy Woelfel (Fred); a brother, Jimmy Jones; a grandson, Benjamin Miner; four step-grandchildren; and six step great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 20, 2025, at The Wood Mortuary Chapel conducted by Dr. Keith Kelly.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105, Alzheimer's Association, 123 West Antrim Drive, Greenville, SC 29607, or Meals on Wheels, 15 Oregon Street, Greenville, South Carolina 29605.
