Michael Andrew Kaelin, 58 of Summit and
Spring Lake, NJ, loving husband, father, son, grandfather, godfather, uncle and friend, passed away on December 2nd, 2025. He was born a kind soul and was constantly thinking, asking, and doing for others. He loved his family, extended family, and his boys above all. He was a light of compassion, thoughtfulness, and humor in the lives of everyone he knew, and never spoke ill of anyone.
Mike was born in New York City and raised by loving parents in the idyllic village of Sea Cliff, New York. As the middle child with his two siblings, he enjoyed his childhood in a neighborhood full of children and games. He participated in Boy Scouts and Little League, and became an avid sports fan and athlete. Basketball was his passion, and he was a star player on his CYO and North Shore High School teams.
Mike was always an industrious worker and caddied all through high school and college. At Fordham University, he met lifelong friends whom he cherished. He eventually met his loving wife Maureen, who was also a Fordham Ram, and who he loved deeply for their 30 years together. Mike was a skilled accountant, passing the CPA exam and achieving a Master's in Business Administration. He had a successful career in finance, first at Manohey Cohen, and later with MOL America.
Michael was a parishioner of St. Teresa of Avila Church in
Summit, NJ, where he would encourage weekly attendance at Mass for his boys. He was active in the community through his boys' activities, like coaching CYO and recreational basketball teams, helping out at Cub Scout Pinewood Derbys, and scorekeeping at basketball/baseball games. He was an avid Yankee fan, as well as a fan of South Carolina, Boston College, and Colorado State college hoops.
Mike was the world's greatest father to his three boys. He participated in their interests, loved taking them to Disney World and Yankee games, and always called to check in on them. He called his parents every night and showed up to every family party. He took the meaning of godfather to heart, and truly cared for and watched over his many nephews and nieces.
Michael is preceded in death by his mother, Ruth, and is survived by his wife Maureen Fallon Kaelin; his son Michael of Manhattan, New York; his son Brendan and his daughter-in-law, Sierra of Westminster, Colorado; his son Brian of Manhattan, New York; his grandchildren Miller, Wilson, and Lola; his father James; his sister Margaret Gristina (Andrew Gristina) and his brother Thomas Kaelin (Henriette Rohl); and his large extended family.
