Michael Keevan Obituary
Michael John Keevan, age 69, of Grand Haven, passed away suddenly on Monday, June 13, 2022, at his home.
Mike will be forever remembered and missed by his beloved son, Matthew and Rachel (Woodard) Keevan of Spring Lake; his grandson, Jackson Keevan of Spring Lake; his sister, Kathee (Tom) Pascoe of Rochester Hills; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Memorial Visitation to Celebrate Mike's Life will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 24, 2022, at Klaassen Family Funeral Home. Please visit www.klaassen funeralhome.com for full obituary.

I have wonderful memories of the swim team at Gun Lake, swimming from Chicago Point to the Island and back, with Coach Keevan in a canoe alongside us all the way. He coached three Strayer girls early in his career, and I cherish my memories of that time. My thoughts and prayers for his family.

In just a flash a flood of memories come rushing in. Whether it was a kick board wizzing by my head or coach just putting his arm around me with encouraging words. A lot of time spent together in the four years that I knew coach and I´m grateful for all of them. You made me a swimmer for life and I wish I had the opportunity to thank you. Thanks Coach, you will always have a special place in my heart.

I was so saddened to hear of Mike´s passing. I worked with Mike at DHS for many years, and we had some great laughs and times along with other staff members. Rest In Peace Mike, and my sympathy to Matt and family.

I was lucky enough to have known Mike. We co-taught swimming to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade DeWitt Middle Schoolers. Working with Mike was a pleasure, it was a "laugh a minute". He always had a great attitude and a fun loving spirit. Mike will be sorely missed. Condolence to the family.

Coach Keevan was a great coach and I can honestly say that he made me a better swimmer and a better person. While there were times as a high schooler on his team, that I didn´t like him much, he was a difference maker in my life. Looking back, he was akin to a second father to me when I needed one. I wish I had told him this when I could have. I was fortunate enough to see him a couple times well after high school, both random encounters where it was great to catch up. I wish I had followed up on my promise to get over to Grand Haven and see him. I am content in the fact that we put aside any animosity, and the last time we parted, we did so as good old friends. You were a great one, Mike, gone too soon. Thanks for helping to shape my life.

So saddened to hear about Mr. Keevan's passing. I was fortunate to swim for him in his 1st year as coach at Dewitt. His leadership was instrumental in providing discipline in my life. Although I moved away from Dewitt, I found myself going back to see him many times. Coach meant that much to me. He was not only a coach to me but a friend. He will be greatly missed! My prayers and thoughts are with his family.

I am thinking of Matt and Mike's family at this time. Coach was a bright light and a leader of men and women while he coached the DeWitt team for all of those years. He inspired the athletes and considered everyone on the team to be an important link to success. I always gave him so much credit for our team and individual success because he always believed in all of us. His motivation speeches were second to none and we would run through the wall for him. We will miss you greatly coach. Hundreds of DeWitt swimmers are really down right now knowing you are gone. They are also happy that you are not suffering and are set free. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Coach.
