Michael A. Kern, of North Webster, passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at Avalon Village in Ligonier, Indiana at the age of 77. Born on January 20, 1948, in Goshen, Indiana, Mike led a life characterized by his strong work ethic, community spirit, and deep commitment to family.
Mike graduated from Syracuse High School in 1966 and soon embarked on a career that reflected his entrepreneurial spirit. He owned and operated two local businesses, Mike's Soda Shop and Tippy Home Improvement. Additionally, he served as a school bus driver for Wawasee Community Schools. His dedication extended beyond his professional life, as he helped start the Lakeland Youth Center soccer league and served as a member of the school board for Wawasee Community Schools. Mike also worked for Cardinal Center in Warsaw.
On June 13, 1969, Michael married the love of his life, Theresa Kern (Duffy), who preceded him in death in 2001. Together, they built a family that flourished with love and togetherness.
Mike had a passion for woodworking and building, often transforming his ideas into creations that brought joy to family and friends. His family was of utmost importance to him, and they will deeply miss him.
Mike is survived by his daughter, Julie (Rich) Hays; sons, Brian (Liz) Kern, Jon (Deanna Thomas) Kern, and Nathan (Alicia) Kern; along with eleven cherished grandchildren and 1 great grandson. He also leaves behind his brothers, Greg (Cindy) Kern and Kevin Kern, along with many extended family members and friends. He was preceded in passing by his wife, parents, son, Michael James Kern, and grandson, Reid Julian Kern.
Family and friends are invited to Mike’s Life Celebration Visitation on Monday, September 22, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Titus Funeral Home & Cremation Services in North Webster, 8056 E 500 N, North Webster, Indiana 46555. He will be laid to rest beside his wife, Theresa, at Mock Cemetery. His family kindly requests that donations be made to Cardinal Services, Inc. 504 N Bay Dr, Warsaw, IN 46580, in honor of Mike.
