Michael Kristan Obituary
August 14, 1948 - October 7, 2025
Mike was born in Northern Chicago Illinois in 1948, the third of 4 brothers. We will always remember that accent! Who can think of the Cubs without thinking of that booming laugh of his?
Literature was a passion - He began teaching as soon as he could. By the early 80's he had accepted a teaching position in Austin, Texas, where he would go on to teach, support, & nurture students for over 5 decades at Westwood High School. The countless lives he impacted is simply innumerable - including students, colleagues, friends and family.
Mike never passed an opportunity to have a conversation with anyone, especially janitors, readers, thinkers, and Cubs fans. His favorite topics were his granddaughter and his great grandchildren whom he loved more than life. The topics and the participants were wide-ranging in these heartfelt discussions.
His love language was those long-lasting, all encompassing hugs. May we all feel his hugs each day. He is survived by his children: Michael Raymond Kristan Jr. + (Wife) D'Onda Kristan, Jay Kristan & Lisa Kristan, Granddaughter Haley Kristan Turner + (Husband) Marcus Turner, Great Grandchildren Marley & Mason Turner, Brothers Bill, Jim & Dave Kristan.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
