In Loving Memory of Michael "Mike" Allen Kristof
Michael "Mike" Kristof, age 50 of Tilleda, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 16, 2024. Michael was born on October 27, 1973 to Allen "Mike" Jr. and Judith (Reinert) Kristof. Mike graduated from Bowler High School in 1992. After high school, Mike chose to enter the work force working with his father at Torburgs Construction before moving on to find his passion building highways with Streu Constructions. While working at Streu, Mike met his wife, Kari Pethke, whom he married on January 27, 2001. The couple moved to Shawano to start their family. Mike continued to work for multiple large construction companies in the area, including Michels Corp and Trierweiler Construction, before moving to California for 3 years with his family for a job as highway superintendent for Granite Construction. Then they moved to Iowa for year and a half to work for Knife River before finding out he was ill. At that time, Mike and his family moved to Suring where his family still lives.
Michael was a devoted husband, father, and son. His greatest joys in life were always making sure his family was taken care of, fishing and hunting. His legacy will be carried on by his family who find comfort in knowing that Michael is at peace.
Michael leaves behind his wife of 23 years, Kari; parents, Mike and Judy; three children, Brett, Brady, and Emma; mother and father-in-law, Howard and Rebecca Pethke; brother-in-law, Chad (Lisa) Pethke. He is further survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Michael is preceded in death by his grandparents, Allen and Jeanette Kristof and Harold and Florence Reinert; sister-in-law, Dawn Pethke.
A special thank you to his mother-in-law, Woodland Home Health, and Unity Hospice for their kind and caring hearts as they cared for Michael through the last stages of his life. He always looked forward to their visits.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring from 3 pm until the memorial service at 7 pm. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences can be expressed at www.gruetzmacherfuneralhome.com.
