Michael (Mike) Anthony Lamendola, 76 died on September 21, 2024, after an extended illness surrounded by his family. Mike grew up in Shreveport in a large Italian family full of life and love. He spent his formative years working in the family business. He cherished his football days at C.E. Byrd and was an avid LSU and Saints fan. He was a loyal friend to many, a proud Vietnam War Veteran, and a true family man who spent his life making others lives brighter. Working most of his life as a salesman in the oil well supply industry, he remained a dedicated company man until his retirement. Being retired wasn't for him so he went on to work a few more years at Harrah's Casino in Shreveport and then New Orleans. He spent several years living in New Orleans with his daughter and in Diamondhead, Mississippi with his mother before moving back to Shreveport.
Not one for collecting possessions, he lived a life full of experiences and travels with his family. He loved the outdoors and spent a lot of time fishing, hiking, and camping around the Ark-La-Tex and in the Santa Fe National forest. Always the first one to offer a helping hand, he is revered by his family and friends as the kindest soul you'd ever meet. He touched many lives and he will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Lucille Lamendola and his brothers, Carl and Chris. He is survived by his brother, Sam Lamendola and wife Judy, his sister-in-law, Nell Lamendola, the mother of his children, Gail Doran, his daughter, Michael Lamendola, sons Stephen Lamendola and wife Amy and Christopher Lamendola and wife Leah, and his grandchildren, Molly, Dean, Madison and Carly, and his loyal canine companion, Ziggy.
The family sends their heartfelt gratitude to the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Home for providing excellent care of him in his last year.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that you do something kind for someone you love in his name or donate to your local Veterans or Animal Rescue organization.
A memorial service will be held Saturday September 28, 2024 at 10:00 am at Aulds Funeral Home, 7849 E Kings Hwy, Shreveport, LA 71115.
