Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home - MaumeeMichael Barton Lang, age 83, of Waterville, Ohio, entered into eternal rest on January 26, 2026, at home, peacefully and surrounded by the love of his devoted wife. Born on October 19, 1942, in Cleveland, Ohio, Michael was the son of the late William E. and Virginia C. (Barton) Lang. He graduated from Toledo Scott High School and went on to attend LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas. He earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Toledo, achievements he carried with quiet pride.
Guided by a strong work ethic and a generous heart, Michael built a meaningful career rooted in service. Prior to attending college, we worked on a cattle ranch in Wyoming. After working for several Toledo-area companies, including Libbey Glass and the Toledo Scale Company, he founded Lang Electric. For more than 42 years, he faithfully served residential, commercial, and farm clients-never simply as a contractor, but as a trusted neighbor whose honesty, reliability, and selflessness left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Michael was also deeply committed to supporting his craft and strengthening the trades community. He was an active member of the Professional Remodelers Organization (PRO), where he served both as a board member and as president. In addition, he was a longtime member of the Toledo Metropolitan Electrical Contractors Association (TMECA), where he shared his expertise by teaching in TMECA's apprentice trade school for several years. His dedication to mentorship and professional excellence left a lasting impact on the next generation of craftsmen and colleagues.
Michael's life was enriched by deep curiosity and a love of exploring God's creation. He and his wife treasured their travels together, from peaceful cruises to memorable journeys through Ireland, Venice, India, and the Holy Land. Michael also found joy in skiing and was a proud longtime member, and past president, of the Toledo Ski Club. His appreciation for nature extended to time spent on sailboats, especially serving on the crew of the White Lightning on Lake Erie. True to his spirit, he delighted in the snowfall that graced the day before his passing.
A devoted and faithful member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Providence Township, Michael lived his faith with humility and sincerity. As a member of the Knights of Columbus, he offered quiet support to his parish community and to anyone in need. Friends affectionately called him "Padre," a testament to his compassionate listening, fatherly wisdom, and the gentle presence he brought to every conversation.
Michael will be remembered for his thoughtful nature, articulate mind, and a kindness that shaped the lives of those around him. His legacy continues through his loving wife, Marolyn; son, Christopher (Marie) Lang and their children, Max and Margeaux; son, Patrick (Teresa) Lang and their children, Isabella and Sophia; and his brother, Peter (Pam) Lang. He is also reunited in peace with a grandchild, Isaac, who preceded him in death.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday, February 8, 2026, from 2 PM until the praying of the Rosary at 5 PM at Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant St., Maumee, Ohio. Additional visitation will be held at 10 AM on Monday, followed by the Funeral Mass at 11 AM at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 14010 S. River Road, Grand Rapids. A luncheon and gathering will immediately follow. Michael will be laid to rest privately in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery.
