Farris Funeral Service, Inc. – Main Street ChapelMichael "Mick" John Legris, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2025, in Hendersonville, North Carolina, at the age of 53. Born on June 19, 1972, in Harvard, Illinois, Mick lived a life full of adventure, service, and love.
Mick proudly served his country as a hospital corpsman in the United States Navy during the Persian Gulf War, also known as Operation Desert Storm. His dedication to duty and compassionate care for his fellow servicemen were hallmarks of his time in the military, leaving an indelible impact on those around him.
Following his military service, Mick found his calling in the construction industry, where he worked as a skilled VWC wallpaper hanger. His meticulous attention to detail and work ethic earned him great respect among colleagues and clients alike.
Mick's love for life extended beyond his career. He was an avid traveler, having visited nearly all 50 states, with Utah holding a special place in his heart for its breathtaking landscapes. He was passionate about rock hounding, gardening, and growing herbs, sharing the fruits of his labor with joy and generosity.
Mick was preceded in death by his father, Michael Joseph Legris; his maternal grandparents, Arthur and Evelyn Soltwedel; and his paternal grandparents, Aubin and Roberta Legris.
He is survived by his devoted mother, Kathy Legris; his loving wife of nearly 17 years, Ann Wampler; and his cherished children, Libby Moser (Jason), Nathan Wampler (Keishia) and Ginger Rouse (Charles "Bubba"). Mick also leaves behind his adoring grandchildren, Hudson Moser, August Moser, Hunter Moser, Kyndra Rouse, Anastasia Rouse, Avery Wampler, Rayden Wampler; and his best friend, Tundra.
A Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Gospel Tabernacle Church , 15292 Enterprise Rd. Abingdon, VA 24211 with Pastor David Robins officiating.
Mick's adventurous spirit, unwavering loyalty, and boundless love for his family and friends will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
