Mr. Michael F. Lewis

Michael F. Lewis, 68, a resident of Columbus, Indiana, passed from this life at 1 p.m. Friday, September 13, 2024, at the Columbus Regional Hospital.
Michael was born in Shelbyville, Indiana, November 5, 1955, the loving son of the late Floyd H. and Roanne Weaver Lewis. Michael married his longtime companion, Jean M. Scoggins, February 29, 2008; she survives.
Michael was a United States Air Force veteran. He rose to the rank of staff sergeant during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged February 19, 1979.
Michael worked in maintenance for the U.S. Postal Service in Columbus retiring after many years of service. Michael also was the owner of Blue River HVAC. He was known as a "Jack of all trades" and he enjoyed doing handy man work and restoring old engines. Michael always enjoyed a day that he could throw a line into his favorite fishing hole.
Michael is survived by his wife of 16 years, Jean Scoggins; children, Mariah (Bryan) Watkins of Columbus and Nathan M. Lewis of Madison, Wisconsin; his granddaughter that was the light of his life, Anelyse Watkins; and his brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Anita Lewis of Shelbyville.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Roanne Lewis and two brothers, Patrick and Todd Lewis.
In keeping with Michael's wishes, cremation was chosen. There are no services planned. Memorial contributions in memory of Michael may be made to the Clifford Volunteer Fire Department or the donor's choice of charities.
