Michael Linley Obituary
Michael W. Linley, age 71, passed from this life surrounded by loved ones at his home after an extended illness and a courageous battle with dementia.
Michael was born on October 9, 1954, to the late Raymond Linley and ClaraBell Arnold, Mike spent his early adult years working as a Masoner. Manual labor took a heavy toll on his body, forcing him into an early disability long before he was ready. Even so, he never let it stop him from being present. The next chapter of his life was spent caring for his kids, helping with his grandchildren, and tinkering with cars and countless little projects that kept his hands busy and his mind working.
Mike was stubborn and strong-willed, sarcastic in all the best ways, and simple in the things he loved. Honest, kind, caring, and always willing to help anyone in need, he had a true heart of gold-once you got past that tough, gruff exterior. Those who knew him best knew the man beneath it, and knew how deeply he loved his family.
On June 9, 1973, Mike was united in marriage to Dorothy Woods, who survives in Chillicothe, Ohio. After 52 years of marriage he will be waiting for her to join him in heaven (as he's waited on her for 52 years). Also surviving are their three children, Michael (Davina-favorite daughter in law) Linley Jr. and Jennifer (John) Brown, both of Waverly, Ohio, and Lori (Aaron) Kellough of Kentucky.
A special mention goes to his nephews, Joe Arnold of Chillicothe, Ohio, Floyd Luster of Tennessee, and David Woods of Columbus, Ohio who held a meaningful place in his life.
Mike leaves behind many grandchildren who he adored, Tyler, Blake, Bryce,(Sam), Kacie, Karlee, Julia, Harlan, Nick, Bre, Savannah, Madison, Jacob, Tori and three great grandchildren, Sage, Austin, and Leo.
He is also survived by his sisters, Marie Conley and Cora Gee, both of Columbus, Ohio; his in-law siblings, Bobbi (Mike) Arnold of Frankfort, Ohio, and Darl (Bob) Greenwood; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents, and eleven siblings.
Mike's life was simple, honest, and full of quiet love-the kind you felt more than you heard. His presence, his humor, and his stubborn grace will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Visitation for Mike will be Wednesday December 10, 2025, from 5 until 8 pm at O.R. Woodyard Co. South High Street Chapel 1346 S. High St. Columbus, Ohio 43207, where services will be held on Thursday December 11, 2025, at 11:00 am Pastor Aaron Hines officiating. Interment Obetz Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Mike's hospice care team at National Church Residency for the amazing support and care in his final days. Your outpouring of love and care will never be forgotten. A special mention of thanks to Lindsey and Tasha.
