So sad to hear about Mike's passing. He was a great neighbor and Jeremy and I missed both of you after you moved to Pewaukee. Mike was always open to having a friendly chat and met most of the neighborhood shortly after moving in. He had a special place in our hearts. Miss you Mike and condolences and hugs to you Mary Jo. Sorry that COVID kept us from getting over to visit this last year.

Mike, I'm going to write this as if I'm talking directly to you. I met you and Mary Jo almost 10 years ago this October when Bob and I started dating. I remember feeling so comfortable and at home with you guys. There was so much laughter. I could tell you and Bob adored each other, that you shared a special bond.
We had so many fun times over those ten years even though we ended up 11 hours apart. You and Bob called each other often and Bob usually had the phone speaker on. You made me laugh out loud or smile almost every time. That was a gift you had. You could find humor in just about anything.
I soon realized the first time we met that you weren't too fond of hugs. I'm a hugger and was convinced that someday I would break you. We visited you 3 months ago and as Bob and I said our goodbye, you approached me and held your arm out to hug me. Never did I dream that would be our last visit, our last laughs, our last hug.
I already miss you. I loved you so much. You were the best brother-in-law.

Dear Mary Jo, Dawn, Katie, Liz and Grand Kids, I want to give all of you my deepest condolences. Mike was my brother but he was also my best friend and fellow Marine. We were close in age and being typical boys we spent a lot of time playing together. Throughout life we shared many experiences and conversations right up until those last hours. Mike was a great brother and friend but I know he was also a great loving husband, father and grandpa. The Marine Corps motto is Semper Fidelis which means Always Faithful. Mike was loyal and very proud of his family.
Over the last week, I have spent a lot of time with the normal grieving questions of how could this happen and why. Those are always some of the most difficult questions to answer but I do know this, Mike was prepared for this day. He often spoke to me about death and did things to try and help us get through it. Of course, we did not want to hear that kind of talk. But, Mike would many times talk about it with a sense of humor and that has brought me some comfort.
Mike always had a wonderful sense of humor. It never was the hurtful kind of joking or teasing but a playful humor and trying to pull your leg. He often teased me about living in Arkansas. He would say something like Why did it take you so long to answer the phone Bob.couldn't you find the soup can and string. The world needs more humor and more people like Mike.
Mike will always be my Best Man!

Dear Mary Jo, Dawn, Katie, Liz and families, I am so sad to learn of Mike's death. I cannot help but smile when I think of all the times we shared with church activities, our Caribbean cruise or just having fun wherever. Please know that my thoughts and prayers will be with all of you in the days and weeks ahead. May God grant you comfort and peace as you remember your dear husband, dad and grandpa.

This is just very sad. Too young. I will always remember Mike from "back in the day" at Church of Our Saviour as the guy to just get things done (even when he wasn't asked!) Many thanks to him and Mary Jo for the good friendship.
