Michael J. Martin

Ware: Michael J. Martin, 78, of Woodland Heights., passed away on Tuesday, May 23rd, in West Side House, Worcester, after a long illness.
He leaves his beloved wife, Gale E. (Jalbert) Martin; his three sons, Todd Sullivan of Ware, Shawn Martin and his wife Nicole of Berrington, RI and Alexander Martin of Southbridge; a daughter, Heidi Rousseau of Southbridge; six brothers, Roy Martin, Francis Martin and his wife Alberta, Billy Martin and his wife Sandra, Thomas Martin and his wife Madeline, David Martin and Christopher Martin and his wife Leslie; his three sisters, Judy Pollard and her husband Harmon, Deborah Martin and her husband Steven Raff and Susan Martin and her partner Alan; 8 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Michael was predeceased by an infant son, Michael Martin in 1967, two brothers, Paul Martin and Dennis Martin; and a sister, Kathleen Allen.
He was born in Athol the son of Francis H. and Ruby (Potter) Martin.
Michael graduated high school and enlisted into the United States Army serving honorably during the Vietnam War. He was a missile specialist stationed at Ft. Bliss, Texas. Michael worked as a supervisor for Schott Fiber optic for 40 years prior to retiring. He enjoyed classic cars and traveling to car shows, working in his yard and splitting wood. Michael loved the outdoors and in his younger years played horseshoes, softball and tennis.
A Calling hour for Michael will be held on Friday, June 9th from 10:00 to 11:00 am in the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in St. Anne's Cemetery, Sturbridge.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Michael's name to the Alzheimer's Association, 309 Waverly Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452.
