Michael Matulavich Obituary

Michael Patrick Matulavich (Mikey), 59, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2021. The angels came to carry an innocent soul and spirit to the arms of Jesus where he was made whole. He is overjoyed to see the love of his life, Grandma Beulah Puett. Even though he was born with many challenges, including being nonverbal, Mikey always had a loving smile and big hug for everyone he met. His parents were blessed to have him in their lives and considered it a privilege to be his life-long caregivers. Mikey loved riding the MRDD bus to the Weaver and Southern Workshops where he could be with his friends. In later years, after losing the ability to walk, Mikey never lost his genuine excitement and joy when visited by family and friends. Mikey is survived by parents, Mike and Pat; brother, Mark (Becky) and sister, Rachel Mostar; brother-in-law, John Mostar; niece, Marisa and nephews, Michael, Alex, and Steven Mostar; very special uncle, Sam (Barbara); uncle, Pete (Zee); uncle, Paul (Cindy) and special cousins Rhonda, Ronnie, and Robbin Shook in Georgia. The family is grateful to Dr. Michael Hill for his many years of caring for Mikey, Dr. Jennifer Drost, and the many nurses from Summa Home Care and Hospice. Special thanks to Jennings Cross, MRDD Advocate for his loving concern, care, and support for Mikey. Cremation has taken place. A private memorial service for family will be held Thursday, April 8, 2021 at 7 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home of Green, 4178 Massillon Rd., Uniontown, OH 44685 (corner of Massillon and Steese Roads in Green, entrance off Steese Road). Rev. Dallas Billington officiating. In lieu of flowers, please do something kind for someone in Mikey's memory.

Every time I think of Michael I see the twinkle in his eyes and the genuine love shining from inside him. Michael was very special to me and Kelly. The void will always be felt so hold your memories close and let your heart feel at peace.

I was told once "don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened". I try to keep that in mind when I remember Mikey and all the good times we had together. All I can say is we will have a great reunion someday! I miss Mikey and those days we were all given to be together. I think of Mikey with many happy memories. He is remembered by Kelly : she tells me "I like him!" when I ask her about Mikey. I remember his "ornery eyes" and big smile and always it always makes me smile when I think about him.
I am hoping that Mike, Pat, and all of Mikey's family know he made a difference in our lives. and hope all of you are healing from the loss of Mikey - it's tough. Sending you all our love.

Dear Mike, Pat, and family - I am grateful for Michael's presence in my life and grateful for the joy his grin, sense of humor and big, joyous hugs gave to me! Michael is forever in my heart. And I truly missed him when I retired. I have the little box with Mikey's picture in that you gave me ,Pat, and actually I just looked at it last week. I sits on the corner of my desk, but periodically I open it and think about Mikey. It always makes me a smile! I remember all the fun days with him and Kelly in Kim's class. Kelly and Mikey had a love/hate relationship - they loved to pick on and tease each other and hated to be apart. I remember all the bus rides to the center and back home. Mikey enjoyed every little thing, every day! I know Michael was cherished and loved by all , but his family was beyond wonderful in caring for him and he had a very good life. It was a joy to know the family and see their love and devotion: and they always showed their gratitude to all who touched Mikey's life. I know your hearts are broken but Michael will always be thought of with love by all. I pray for peace and comfort for you. Our sympathy and our love , Vicki and Kelly

My condolences goes out to The Matulavich Family at this time. Michael will always be in the hearts and minds of the family members and friends who truely cared and loved him.
As the Facility Manager of the Southern Center I had the opportunity to meet and know Mike and his family. I learned the true meaning of caring from the example of Michael's Father and Mother.
May you be blessed and know that me and the former staff cared!
