Michael McCafferty Obituary

Michael D. McCafferty, of Braintree, age 66, entered into eternal life suddenly on February 28, to be with his late parents John and Marianne, his aunt Mary Barbato, and beloved boxer Lennox. Originally a New Hampshire boy, in 1977 Mike graduated from North Adams State College, married Dottie and settled in Braintree for the next 42 years, bringing his family to Maine to enjoy life on David and Parker ponds, and destinations sunny and warm. A carpenter, who especially enjoyed creating for his friends and family, Mike was also proud to have been a member of the Braintree Auxiliary Police, a Special Police Officer, a town meeting member, and a teacher at Southeastern Vocational Technical High School. He built his family a home in Maine where he would fish, pick blueberries and "go hunting". Beloved husband of Dorothea E. (Libertine) McCafferty. Beloved father of Michaela Collins and her husband Stephen of West Bridgewater, and Colleen McCafferty and her wife Amanda Foley of Braintree. Loving Papa to Broxton and Brooks and one more on the way, 5 granddogs and a grandcat. Funeral services are private. Arrangements by the Clancy-Lucid Funeral Home Weymouth. If desired, donations may be made in his memory to Boston Childrens Hospital Heart Center, 300 Longwood Ave. Boston ma 02115. For messages see clancylucid.com

Mike was a great friend for over 40 years. I will miss his sense of humor, political discussions and talking about our families. He was a talented carpenter and lived life to the fullest. Mike was one fo the good ones who left the world a little bit better place. I learned a lot from Mike and hope he finds Parker Pond in the afterlife. So long buddy, thanks for the memories..I will always be there for your family if they need me.

Mike was a great friend for over 40 years. I will miss his sense of humor, political discussions and friendship. He lived his life to the fullest, was a talented carpenter and cared deeply for his family and friends. He was one of the good guys and left the world a little bit better place. I learned a lot from Mike and was fortunate to have dinner with him a week before he passed. So long buddy...thanks for the memories. I hope you find another Parker Pond in your afterlife, I will always be there for your family if they need me.

There are not enough words about how much we'll be missing Mike. For 22 years we have been neighbors, every morning waiving to each other, sharing jokes, sharing community concerns, planning projects... Dot, Collen, Michaella, just remember we are next door if you need us for anything. Mike asked to help you and we promised.

Lisa and I were shocked and saddened to hear of Mike's passing. I was looking forward to you all coming up this spring. Please let us know if we can do anything for you up in Maine. I know Mike would do the same for us. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.
