Michael McCaffrey Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 19, 2026.
Michael Lee McCaffrey was born and raised in Salinas, California, the second of four children. After graduating from Salinas High School, he proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. His service remained a lifelong source of pride.

Michael earned a Bachelor of Arts in graphic design from San Jose State University. He built a distinguished career in advertising before founding his own firm, Very Graphic Art, which he ran successfully for more than 20 years. His work included projects for Apple, Logitech, the San Francisco 49ers, the San Jose Sharks, and 3Com. He also helped design the iconic Pet Rock packaging. Michael received the prestigious Murphy Award and was featured in Communication Arts magazine. He authored the book No Fault Tennis, a fictional work featuring his alter ego, Pancho Macho.

Michael was deeply involved in his community with the Capital Club of Silicon Valley, San Jose Rotary, the San Jose State Quarterback Club, and the Santa Clara County YMCA.

Michael was a devoted husband and father. He was married to his beloved wife Stephanie for 62 years. Together they built a life centered on family, service, art, and travel, raising their two sons, Casey and Tim.

Michael served the Twain Harte Rotary, Chamber of Commerce and the Tuolumne County Visitors Bureau. He shared his design talents with local organizations, nonprofits, and small businesses.

Michael will be remembered for his creativity, generosity, storytelling, humor, and dedication to his family and community. He will be deeply missed.

Michael is survived by his wife Stephanie; his sons Christopher, Casey, and Tim; his grandchildren Jaden, Jack, Allison, Olivia, and Everett; and his siblings Mary Alice Victorino and Patrick McCaffrey.
