Michael McCloskey Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Damar-Kaminski Funeral Home & Crematorium - Justice on Mar. 18, 2026.
Michael Leonard McCloskey (Mike), the son of Terry McCloskey (d. 1981) and Gloria Ackerman (d. 2013), passed into the presence of his Saviour on March 6th, 2026 due to complications following a heart attack.

Mike is survived by his wife Lisa McCloskey, his son Jacob McCloskey and his wife Amber McCloskey, his daughter Amanda Adeyemi and her husband Seni Adeyemi, his two grandsons, Braxton Riley and Ezra Adeyemi, his brother Christopher McCloskey Sr., and his wife Anna McCloskey, his sister Vicki Ackerman, and his nieces and nephews.

Those that knew Mike remember his sharp wit, his dry humor, and his strong will. He was determined to follow the Lord's leading, no matter the cost or what anyone thought about it. His life was marked by Christian contentment. He knew and lived out that "godliness with contentment is great gain." (1 Timothy 6:6). His life was a testimony to the sufficiency of Christ, and he bore that testimony to the very end.

Mike served in the United States Marine Corps, an experience that influenced not only his haircut and clean-shaven face, but also his rugged lifestyle. Mike was a man who loved to give the gift of memories: memories over long, deep conversations, memories over huge family meals (he was an expert at cooking for a crowd), and memories over shared experiences. Mike's grandson will always remember his Papa taking him fishing the very last time he saw him.

Mike endured many afflictions through his life, but through it all, his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ sustained him. He was a man whose eyes were fixed on eternity. Although he was only 55 years old, Mike was ready to know, inasmuch as as he knew that "to live is Christ, and to die is gain." (Philippians 1:21).

Indeed, our loss is his gain. While we mourn him, we rejoice that he has been freed from the sin and suffering of this life, and has been made perfectly happy and holy in the presence of Christ while he awaits the resurrection of his body.
