Michael F. McDermott

Graveside Services for Michael F. McDermott, age 70, of O'Neill, Nebraska will be 2:00 PM Thursday, March 12, 2026 at the O'Neill Cemetery in O'Neill. Mike passed away on Friday, March 6th 2026, at Accura Nursing home in O'Neill. Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation. Arrangements are entrusted to Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill.

Michael (Mike) McDermott, affectionately known as "Papa Junebug" lived a wonderful life. He was born on April 12, 1955, in O'Neill, Nebraska, to wonderful, loving parents, Francis and Thelma (Underwood) McDermott. Michael grew up in the O'Neill area and married Misty Kennedy in Garden City, KS, in 1982. To this union two children were born: Sherry and Michael. Michael worked for Community Ambulance in Portland, Oregon, before moving to AMR (American Medical Response) in the same city.

He is survived by one daughter, Sherry Dodd of Sandy, Oregon, and son-in-law, Travis Dodd of Sandy, Oregon, four grandchildren, Brandon Dean of Sandy, Oregon, Mallory Dean of Sandy, Oregon, Peyton Dodd of Sandy, Oregon, and Corey Dodd of Sandy, Oregon; one son, Michael J McDermott of Waupaca, WI, and daughter-in-law Jessica McDermott of Waupaca, WI; one sister, Elaine Haszard of O'Neill, NE; two brothers, Jim McDermott of Page, NE and Richard McDermott of Buffalo, MO; eight nieces and nephews; eleven great-nieces and nephews; many aunts, uncles, and friends.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Thelma McDermott, and his grandparents, Dominic and Elva McDermott, and John and Henrietta Underwood, and by two brothers, Eugene McDermott and Lyle McDermott.
