Michael Kirby McDonald, 66, of Apache Junction, Arizona, passed away on March 23, 2024. He was born on December 26, 1957, in Phoenix, Arizona. Mike, a beloved father, brother, and friend, will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A man of many talents and interests, Mike was known for his fun sense of humor, storytelling, creative side and passion for the ways of the Old West. His lifelong, dear friend, Brett, described him as a "storyteller, songwriter, embellisher, abstract artist, true fiction writer, old west character... a man of many moons and sunrises - for him to live was to fly. Riding off into the sunset, on his own terms."

Mike served in the US Navy for 3 1/2 years, in service to his country. After his military service, he pursued a career in Underground Utility and Safety Management. In his free time, Mike enjoyed playing guitar, storytelling, and embracing the cowboy way of life.

He is survived by his daughter Sarah Jane, his brother Mitchell, and sister-in-law Mona. Mike’s parents, Bennie and Barbara, preceded him in death.

Final interment services will be held graveside at Green Acres Mortuary & Cemetery, 401 N. Hayden Road, Scottsdale, AZ 85257, at 10:30 AM on April 15, 2024.

Instead of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to New Life Counseling, an organization providing services to people in need, which was important to Sarah. Donations can be made at www.newlifeaz.com/donate/ or mail to NLC/ABCS 2632 W. Augusta Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85051, note Michael McDonald memorial in the additional note section.

Michael Kirby McDonald will be remembered for his creativity, passion, and love for life. May he rest in peace.
