Michael E. McGurrin Sr., 72, of West Haven, passed away on November 21, 2022. Born in Scranton, PA on September 2, 1950, a son of the late Patrick and Delores (Bochak) McGurrin. Survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Nancy (Neibel) McGurrin; loving children, Jen (Jimmie) Brown, Michael (Belynda) McGurrin Jr., Christina (Scott) Zakos; as well as grandchildren, Michael McGurrin III, Eric McGurrin, Scott Zakos Jr., and Morgan Zakos.
Michael "Big Mike" proudly served in the US Marine Corps before meeting his great love and best friend, Nancy. Nothing gave Big Mike greater joy than that of spending time with his growing family. He was actively involved throughout their youth athletics, always on hand to assist at the gate of West Haven High School for all the various sports being held. His pride carried over to the next generation, whereby his grandchildren and 'grandpups' brought about endless laughs and entertainment. Mike was ham radio operator and an avid car buff. He was a member of the Cruisin' East Club and enjoyed countless excursions in his vintage cars with his wife by his side. Despite his long desire for a Harley Davidson, he agreed to settle for "Harley" the dog. Big Mike's strength in spirit was unwavering; he was not going to leave this world without a great fight, and a great fighter he remained until the very end. He will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
