Michael H. McLaughlin, 74, also known as Daddy, Papa, Bop Bop, Old Man, and Peepaw. He was born April 3, 1951, in Columbia, South Carolina, to Charlie and Mertie McLaughlin. He graduated from Olympia High School in 1970. He loved the game of baseball and played it all through high school and then went on to coach the game for many years. Mike was also a standout player in football and basketball. He passed his love of the game onto his grandsons. He also loved the games of golf and pool. Most of all, he loved his family.
Mike is survived by his three daughters, Angie Parker (Tracy), Sherry Greer (Dusty), and Mikell Martin (Bryan) and his nine grandchildren, Amanda Parker (Lauren), Dylan Parker (Anna), Casey Parker (Amber), Will Martin (Faith), Bryanna Brazier (Joe), Michaela Martin (Shelby), Austin Greer (Ashlyn), Gracie Martin (Dakota) and Alexis Greer (Hunter). He also had seven great-grandchildren, Alivyia Brazier, Mae Parker, Ada Parker, Sophie Sharpe, Beau Martin, Alaynna Brazier, Lily-Rose Greer, and Kristian Brazier.
Mike was preceded in death by the love of his life for 40 years, Delores Todd McLaughlin. He was also preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Roy and Gene McLaughlin, Eloise Hornsby, Jackie Goff, Lucy Chavis, Dale Smoak, Charles Ray McLaughlin, and Darlene McLaughlin.
The memorial service for Mike will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at 3 p.m., at Moseley Funeral Home. The service will be officiated by his son-in-law, Bryan Martin and grandson Dylan Parker. The family will receive friends at 2:00 p.m.
