Broussard-Memorial services will be held at 1:30 PM on Thursday, May 02, 2024 at Louisiana Funeral Services and Crematory honoring the life of Michael Guy McSherrfrey, Sr. who passed away on Friday, April 26, 2024.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Patricia Benefield McSheffrey; children, Michael Guy McSheffrey, Jr. (Rachael), Jennifer Herres (Armondo), Scott McSheffrey (Teresa) and Charmaine Hebert (Cade); grandchildren, Riley E. McSheffrey (Lane), Peyton Cuccia, Nicholas Cuccia, Vencenzo Paul Herres, Dylan McSheffrey, Bradley McSheffrey, Haden Venable, Blair Venable, Austin Sarver and Jackson Veneable; siblings, Becky Chandler, Mark McSheffrey, Bradley McSheffrey, Pat Dotson, Karen McSheffrey, and Guy McSheffrey.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lt. Colonel Guy Edward McSheffrey; mother, Mary Owens Jones; and siblings, Peggy Foster, Teresa McSheffrey, and Kevin McSheffrey.
Michael was one of nine Irish "Catholic" siblings. He grew up in San Antionio and San Angelo, TX. He joined the United States Navy in 1964 and trained with the Navy Seals, special warfare in San Diego, CA. He served in Vietnam as a Navy Coxswain for three years.
He then attended Glendale College in Glendale, CA and after graduating went to work for Baker Oil Tools in Los Angeles, CA, where he worked his way up to International Sales. He was employed by several oilfield services companies and retired from Oil States in 2014.
He loved to golf, fish, and spend time with his family. He enjoyed going to church on Sundays and going to eat at his favorite "Sunday" restaurant.
The family would like to say a thanks to St. Joseph Hospice of Lafayette, Lourdes Hospital, and Maison du Lafayette, sitters, and staff for the care they all provided.
The family would like to say a very special thanks to Michael Jr., and his wife, Rachael, and Charmaine Hebert for all the care, love, and support in Mike's last week.
He will always be loved and missed by his wife, Patricia, and all his family.
Thanks Be to Our Lord, Savior Jesus! Mike loved Jesus. He is home.
The family request that visiting hours be observed at Louisiana Funeral Services and Crematory on Thursday, May 02, 2024 from 1:00 PM until time of service.
