Michael Meakin Obituary

Michael Wren Meakin, born on August 2, 1943, in Norfolk, Virginia, passed away peacefully at the age of 81 on June 22, 2025, in Hampton, Virginia, due to an ischemic stroke. Michael's journey through life was one marked by quiet strength and a dedication to serving his country.
After enlisting in the United States Army, Michael served with diligence and integrity in a Clerk Typist capacity. His attention to detail and commitment to excellence earned him a well-deserved Letter of Appreciation and a Sharpshooter Badge, standing as a testament to his dedication and skill.
Though preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Williamson Meakin and Nora Meakin (nee Hudson), as well as his brother, Christopher K. Meakin, Michael leaves behind no known blood relatives. However, his adopted family at James River Nursing and Rehab embraced him wholeheartedly, ensuring he was surrounded by the warmth and care of those who truly valued him until his final moment.
Michael's life will be honored and his service celebrated at Albert G. Horton Memorial Veteran's Cemetery in Suffolk, Virginia, on a date that will be announced soon. This ceremony will provide an opportunity to reflect on the contributions Michael made and the lives he touched through his service.
Although much about Michael's life outside of his military service remains a mystery, we are deeply appreciative of his commitment to our nation. His impact resonates in ways that speak to the quiet yet enduring legacy of his life.
May he rest in peace, knowing that his service and spirit have left an indelible mark upon us all. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Michael, please visit our floral store.
