Michael J. Melnick of Patterson, NY, passed away Wednesday October 19, 2022, in Patterson at the age of 90.
Michael was born December 21, 1931, in Yonkers, NY, son of the late Jon and Parania (Czuczuk) Melnyk. He graduated from St. Mary's High School in Yonkers, NY. On January 20, 1968, he married Catherine A. Steadman in Yonkers. Michael was a Freight Manager at St. Regis Paper Co. in West Nyack, NY. Michael was a veteran of the Air Force and served from 1952 – 1956 during the Korean War.
Michael enjoyed taking care of his vegetable garden. He was proud to be known as the tomato man in Putnam Lake and would gift his tomatoes to everyone. In addition to gardening, Michael was an avid bowler. He also enjoyed attending his granddaughter, Alyssa's dance competitions.
Michael is survived by a son Mickey A. Melnick of Brewster, NY; daughter and son in-law Janet E. & Vinny Tornone of St. Augustine, FL; sister Elizabeth Pisarek of Westwood, NJ, and his grandchildren Alyssa C. Melnick, Cameron, and Chase Tornone.
Calling Hours will take place at Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Ave., Brewster, NY on Thursday October 27, 2022, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
The interment will follow on Friday October 28,2022 at Rose Hill Memorial Park, 100 Mill Street, Putnam Valley, New York.
